Lust or Honor. Not Both.

When producers outfit a movie with a soundtrack, they select music that will evoke certain emotions in its hearers. When painters compose art, the painting is finished with certain colors because of the feelings they will produce in its viewers. The shrewd restauranteur knows to emit delectable aromas from the eatery because the smell alone will evoke mouth-watering desire in prospective clients. The way of a woman is designed in a similar fashion. The woman, built by the hand of God, is a beautiful work of art. Her body is a blank canvas and her garb can be harnessed to cultivate very specific results in the people around her. Generally speaking, her clothing can evoke lust or honor. But not both. Honor is an expressed acknowledgment of the high respect due to another. Lust, by its very nature, is an expressed desire to undermine that very honor. Modest dress is a gentle command that honor is required. Modest dress says, “Respect is required here. Approach with trepidation.” Will the men around you know why they, all of sudden, feel the need to watch their language in your presence? Probably not. Will they even notice that they lingered a little longer to hold the door for you? Probably not.
