Immodesty & The Deceived Woman
If I am remembering the details correctly, I recall one day the Lord said to me, “The woman who puts on immodesty is deceived.” I remember thinking, “Deceived? I don’t understand that, Lord.” The Lord went on to explain to me what was meant by illustrating a scenario. Imagine that there is a shark tank holding about 4-5 sharks. They are burly sharks that are hungry and clearly irritable due to the limited space available in the confinement. They bump into each other as they pass one another sizing up the strength of those sharing the cage with them. Now imagine in the midst of all this commotion someone threw a fish in the tank with them. Suddenly, the sharks become motionless and take their eyes off of each other and zero in on the fish. A deceived fish would be flattered and think, “ooooh look at how they’re staring at me. Look at how I’ve got them drooling over me. They must really want me. They must really like me.”
In a sense the deceived fish is correct. The sharks are staring at her. Yes, indeed, the sharks are drooling over her. But not for the reasons she’s thinking. So it is with a woman who puts on immodesty. She is deceived. The woman, because of her state of deception, is unable to correctly interpret the behaviors of the carnal men around her. She takes their lascivious staring and blatant sexual interest to be to her credit when in reality it is nothing of the sort. The lusty onlookers, or sharks, do want her- but only to satisfy their own selfish, sinful desires. Just like the sharks, they desire to consume her and do not care if her body is destroyed in the process. The defilement and desecration of her body is regarded as acceptable collateral damage as long as their own appeties are satisfied in the process.
